Afghanistan girl
Afghanistan girl This young girl has already had a hard life...fear in her eyes and a nose that looks like it has been broken.

Japan. Maiko is an apprentice geisha in western Japan, especially Kyoto. Their jobs consist of performing songs, dances, and playing the shamisen (three-stringed Japanese instrument) for visitors during feasts. Maiko are usually aged 15 to 20 years old and become geisha after learning how to dance (a kind of Japanese traditional dance), play the shamisen, and learning Kyō-kotoba (dialect of Kyoto), regardless of their origins.

This girl is awesome. I will find her when I am in Japan and give her a high-five. "Nice work being awesome, I'll say"

I think the style of this kimono is very striking as there is quite a contrast between the pale washed out pastelly purples and lilacs and the dark black background. I like the way tone is portrayed in the flower pattern because there is a use of darker colour to create a sense of tone and makes the design look 3D.

Artemis Dreaming
In Japanese mythology, Izanami-no-Mikoto, meaning "she who invites" is a Goddess of both Creation and Death, as well as the former wife of the God Izanagi-no-Mikoto. She is also referred to as Izanami-no-kami. In Her story, Izanagi-no-Mikoto lamented the death of Izanami-no-Mikoto and undertook a journey to Yomi ("the shadowy land of the dead"). The story is wonderful, look it up!
