Here's one of my favorite paintings from when I visited Venice! There was a nice spot on a bridge with a view down the canal in the morning light. I started with a simple drawing to get the composition down and a few of the architectural details correct. I then started with my sky, then proceeded to block in the light and shadow shapes.
