We would like to propose a GREEN Friday instead of Black Friday! Instead of buying lots and lots of stuff you don't really need: 1. Get outside in nature. Science shows it is de-stressing and extremely good for our health. 2. Spend time with family or friends and do something nice for someone, like showing them how to do alt. proc. 3. Take time to create something. Take a step back from the day-to-day stuff, and see what you come up with.
Our newsletter has had a makeover! Sign up (free of course) and choose ALL alt proc news, Cyanotype News, Anthotype News or all three! https://www.alternativephotography.com/become-a-member/newsletter/
On the 24th of November it is Buy Nothing Day, and as the name indicates; try to BUY NOTHING for a whole day. Seems simple, but can be harder than you think. Don’t buy lunch. Don’t buy a bus ticket. Don’t even buy a coffee..! TRummage around at home find a used item, and repurpose it into a pinhole camera! Find plenty of examples and inspiration from Heather Palecek on the link

Paper basics: Buffering
In alternative photographic processes, the choice of paper plays a crucial role in achieving a good print as well as in the archival quality and longevity of prints. Buffered and unbuffered papers are terms often encountered in this context. Some processes are fine with buffered papers and, in some processes, buffering will ruin the print.
António Rebolo, a photography teacher documented experiments an extensive exploration of historical and alternative photographic processes, reflecting a catalogue of alternative processes in photography. Read more on the link.
