Hip-length, straight-cut coat with wide beige & colored stripe blanket-weave wool collar that drops to “V” in back. Godets inset into cuffs & skirt hem. Fastens with silk-covered toggles. Coat lined with beige silk. Skirt is cut straight & trimmed with row of buttons. Wide, boned waistband fastens with hooks & eyes and snaps. Victoria & Albert Museum

1912-1914 This simple 'seaside' dress formed part of Miss Heather Firbank's wardrobe. The dress has a simple collar and spotted cravat. Its fresh youthful style conjures up images of summer holidays during the years before the First World War (1914-1918). Cravats and foulards were popular at the time on blouses as well as dresses. They were inspired by earlier masculine styles in neckwear
