"Sawhorse-style trestle table in pine, based loosely on one in the Luttrell Psalter (c. 1325 - 1335) and an extant 15th century example in Bruges (http://thomasguild.blogspot.ca/search/label/trestle%20table). Made entirely with hand tools."
He's using a foot powered pedal connected by rope that is wrapped around a shaft and goes up to a/ limb spring above his head. Its called a "Pole lathe" to make round things of wood as they spin and get cut by the blade.
