an escalator with the words gara ratt hall written in black on it
Commercials could be found everywhere. Here a new add-place found today: KTH subway escalator. Most surprising in this case: who made the deal? Escalators become legal for it nowadays? And not the least: How much payed for it? ;-)
a man walking towards a parked car in the street with words written on it that read, carra, sutio muto achio ache que que da avera dava tempo
Slow Down - Other People Make Mistakes, Too!
When talking about Advertising. Why do you think this add is great? Conclusion: You got to have something relevant and strong to say if you want to be noticed when doing an add.
a subway station with several black and white photos hanging on the side of the train
Attention created in the subway this morning. But what is it an add for? Guess we will know in a couple of days. But will we be there knowing it, as well as seeing the connection, then? In other words: is this money worth spent or the total oposit? Guess we will know further on. Lesson learned: dont be to quick in evaluating an add you see, but at the same time: dont miss the oportunity for generating a hypothesis. Curiosity wins! ;-)
When advertising is good it is not good...it is great! ;-) Observe how they play with our curiosity (a huge and strong force). In the end observe your own smile. It gives you the right feeling. You just want to...buy? But do also observe: most companies would get negative backlash, meaning: you got to have the right product if you want to play adds this way. Representations of Gender in Advertising
This is a great eye-opener concerning the often unspoken of messages embedded in lot of advertising. It show how often advertising plays with assumptions of society, not always to its best. Here the Gender-issue is the topic.

Google Naps: A Parody That Helps You Find Places To Snooze
Take a look on how Google Naps (not Maps!) present itself on their own web. Nice, right? Good way in order to create attention but without going to the extremes (like screeming).
a bulletin board in the back of a bus with pictures and information about books on it
It is seriously difficult to know what is good versus bad Attention. This is a christmas-add taken by myself on the train towards Falköping on friday 28 march 2014. Rather old right? But an intended mistake or not? Actually difficult to know. Does it work, simply because it is old? Who am I to know? At least I do know that I did observe it, just because it is not christmas right now. Conclusion: more adds do work far better than many of us assume. Why else do companies spend money on it?

Social Media Mastermind Gary Vaynerchuk Explains The Biggest Thing Marketers Are Getting Wrong In 2014
Social media mastermind Gary Vaynerchuk do here give some food for thought. I did put this pin under the board of "Attention" simply because I think it fit better there concerning his main message. However of course it could also have been fitted into the "Digital Marketing" pin.

Encore! Life
If ever wondering why pictures often beat words in sales then have a look here. Then how come? Its about "feeling" of course. Our brains are complicated on one hand you see. On the other hand: our brain is a great thing. It reacts directly. A fact tragically not always used in marketing. But please do! ;-)
an article in the paper has pictures of people on it and one is holding a bottle opener
The continous struggle for Attention. But finally: Next step taken by advertising we all have been waiting for. ;-) From Computer Sweden 12 dec 2013.

The "Fun Theory-campain" run by Volkswagen is as it say: really fun. It is a website, like here, but also a TV-commercial campaign as well as movement in the physical world. It is a really good case showing what "Attention" today could be like. It is not only about creating a single news-paper add. It is everything from Twitter, and websites to movies, commercials and physical activities.

My Life is a Scream
The idea of creating Attention is well manifested by this picture. It is the cartoon-figure Bart Simpson but drawn in a style as the old famous drawing "The scream" by Edward Munch. As lot of advertising people say: Creating attention is about creating the unexpected. It is about Creativity and Entertainment at the same time as it is about the instant creation of some kind of "meaning".

YouTube
A typical Advertising-commercial from my own country of Sweden. It is called "ICA Reklamfilm 2012 - Äntligen vardag i butiken". It is a well-known series of commercials run on TV for several years in a row.
