Rose's work is strongly shaped by the rooms in which she works. No wonder her south-east London studio is so easy on the eye.

The fact that female artists have enjoyed significantly less limelight than their male counterparts is part of what makes the images in 100 Portraits: Women Artists at LIU Brooklyn's Salena Art Gallery so satisfying.

During lockdown, Grace Weaver’s highly mannered, color-saturated style gave way to something a little wilder. Being cooped up in her Brooklyn studio, the artist explains, “forced me to confront my work in a new way, and paint the way that I really want to paint, and have always wanted to.”
