Reindeer hooves

The Svalbard Reindeer is the second smallest reindeer alive. This large male found us quite interesting as we were photographing arctic fox kits. While we were concentrating on the kits he and his partner slowly grazed their way towards us. Eventually I looked up and was surprised to see them so close. The hooves make a clicking noise as they walk. Other reindeer can tell a lot from the sound. For example how big the group is, which way it is moving and probably a lot more.
