Some time ago we shared a collection of posters showing "How Animals Sound In Different Languages" by James Chapman. Luckily, this young English artist has much more in store for us! Kissing, eating, snoring and even camera shutters all sound very differently in different languages, but Chapman's cute posters let us compare how different languages around the world express sounds.

Each vowel makes two sounds- a short sound and a long sound. In some cases, they can be silent too! When a vowel makes the sound of a particular letter, then it is a short sound. However, when the vowel sounds like the letter’s name, then it makes a long sound. Let’s watch the video. Sher Marshall on Instagram: "😱 I didn’t teach some of these correctly for literally decades. I know many of us make the mistake of adding an “uh” sound after a letter sound. 🚫 For example, we say “buhhh” for the letter B. I teach students that we need to take our scissors and just clip off that extra sound (and then we clip it off with our pretend finger scissors). 👶 If we add that extra sound, then “baby” would be pronounced “bu-ay-bu-ee”. 📌 Save this so you can be sure your kids know the right sounds! #alphbet #lettersounds #preschool #learningletters" Letter Sounds Preschool, Teaching Letter Sounds, Letter Sound Activities, Alphabet Sounds, Letter Sound, Phonics Sounds, Teaching Letters, Preschool Letters, Preschool Curriculum
