What Is an Acetate? Metabolism and Hangovers
Hot ice, scientifically known as sodium acetate, is a liquid that will turn solid at the slightest provocation. Touching it with your finger, bumping it too hard, or speaking a few angry words will cause it to spring from a clear, water-like state into solid ice-like crystals.
All we had to do was mix together ¼ cup dishwashing liquid and 1 cup water in a bowl to create a bubble solution. Next we dipped a cloth into the bowl and wiped it across a table. The kids then dipped the end of their straws into the bubble solution, put the end of the straw onto the wet table, and blew gently. Bubbles!
