a warehouse filled with lots of boxes and pallets
#MidwayUSA40 – Behind the Scenes: Operationally, we have a couple of small, but important missions in the Jefferson Warehouse – Military Surplus and part of the Packaging/Repackaging missions. It is great to have extra space and the addition of the Jefferson Building has given us exactly that. When there is an opportunity to try something new, or take advantage of an inventory opportunity, the Jefferson Warehouse is exactly the space we need to say yes. Aim Straight, Larry Potterfield
#MidwayUSA40 – Behind the Scenes: All of our conference rooms and break rooms are name after famous industry people. These antique L.C. #MidwayUSA40 – Fun Fact: Building space is always a concern for a growing company; it certainly always was for us. Picking up new Suppliers and increasing our marketing, we were growing out of the 30,000 sq. ft. building that we had moved into in 1989 (pictured). Not a problem; the building was built with what is called an “expandable end wall”, making it easy to add on to -- and we had lots of space to the north, so we added an additional 20,000 sq. ft. of warehouse space in 1993. -Larry

#MidwayUSA40 – Fun Fact: #MidwayUSA40 – In '88 I began taking some Employees to shoot prairie dogs. It was another great team building exercise, that also honed everyone’s interest in shooting, reloading and guns – especially guns for prairie dogs. Aim Straight, Larry Potterfield
a peg board with tools hanging on it
#MidwayUSA40 – Behind the Scenes: At MidwayUSA, some of the things that stand out most are cleanliness, neatness, and the organization of everything. Even when it comes to tools, there’s a place for everything and everything in its place.
three men and two women standing in front of a large check
#MidwayUSA40 – Fun Fact: 1-2-92 we created NRA “Round-Up” & started asking our Customers if they'd like to ‘round-up’ their order to the next higher dollar & allow us to send their money to the NRA to help defend the Second Amendment. MidwayUSA Customers have contributed over $13.7 million to help protect the Second Amendment. Thanks to all of our Customers for contributing their change to NRA “Round-Up” and helping change the future.

#MidwayUSA40 – Fun Fact: It was a bold move – buying 12 acres of high-price, vacant ground at the I-70 interchange & ordering a new building, but we pulled it off in the second half of '88; moving our logistics operations there in January of '89. We now had a 12-acre lot, which gave us room to grow; and that’s exactly what we did! Aim Straight, Larry Potterfield
a living room filled with furniture and deer heads
#MidwayUSA40 – Behind the Scenes: This is it, what everyone sees when they walk in. My office is full of guns and dead animals – my desk to the right and out of sight. Now you see one of the reasons I love coming to work. Aim Straight Larry Potterfield
#MidwayUSA40 – Behind the Scenes: The hundreds of thank you cards from shooting teams all over the nation serve as constant reminders of the good the MidwayUSA Foundation does in the Shooting Sports Industry. There are about 22,500 high schools and colleges in the United States. At the end of 2016, The MidwayUSA Foundation was holding over $100 million in endowed assets for approximately 2,300 high school and college shooting teams across the nation. #MidwayUSA40 – Behind the Scenes: This is HR. There’s a lot of work that goes on, before a new Employee starts his/her first day of work. After that first day, there’s always something going on with compensation, insurance, benefits, training, promotions, 401-K, profit sharing, Employee Satisfaction and a hosts of other things. The work in Human Resources is never done. Aim Straight, Larry Potterfield

#MidwayUSA40 – Fun Fact: In the early days, we called it the “Call Center”, because this is where the Customers called in to place their orders. In fact, when our Call Center moved into the Lincoln Building in 2009, they occupied the entire floorplan. My, how things have changed; today nearly 95% of our Customers place their orders through our Website. Still we get many, many calls each day through our Contact Center; and we also answer emails, and engage in WebChat at the same time. -Larry
an antler's head on top of a desk next to some knives and other items
#MidwayUSA40 – Behind the Scenes: Our offices are full of taxidermy mounts, gun racks and more! All evidence of the culture at MidwayUSA.

#MidwayUSA40 – Fun Fact: Nitro Express Shipping is our 4th generation logistics system. The investment was over $7 million, which included significant building modifications. When complete in 2010, it significantly increased our shipping capacity and became a defining part of the MidwayUSA Company. Trying to come up with a name, we googled up top ten roller coasters in America. The Nitro, in New Jersey, was one of them. We added the word express and trademarked Nitro Express Shipping®. -Larry

#MidwayUSA40 – Fun Fact: Being country kids, I guess it was logical that Brenda and I would one day buy a farm; we bought the first one in 1983. We built a small cabin there in 1989, a sporting clays range in 1990 and a day lodge facility in 1991. While Midway Farms is a separate stand-a-lone company, the “Farm” is certainly an important part of the MidwayUSA history and culture.
