European Cross Stitch Embroidery
This is a European cross stitch embroidery panel depicting a village scene with an aristocrat and a village woman. This would have been used as a wall hanging or possibly a bed cover. The green velvet base cloth is very fine and the wool cross stitch is in excecuted on a linen mesh which appears fairly old. The back is in a fine cotton dyed in a wonderful rich yellow.
