The Arctic hare, one of the largest living lagomorphs, is highly adapted to the environment of the Arctic tundra. Unlike other rabbits, the Arctic hare has characteristics that are perfect for living in snow, including their body fat, long hind legs and heavy fur. The Arctic hare has close to 20% body fat. When it needs to keep warm or sleep, it simply digs holes in the snow to hide in the holes.
