“ Algebra 1 “Slow It Down” Series: Solve Two-Step Linear Equations by Subtracting & Dividing ONLY Relay Activity - Digital - Distance Learning” DIGITAL AND PRINT: Six rounds provide practice or review solving two-step linear equations using inverse operations – by SUBTRACTING & DIVIDING ONLY. Solutions are integers. The variable x is on the left side of each equation. ******* What is the Algebra 1 “Slow It Down” Series? The Algebra 1 “Slow It Down” Series is ideal for teachers who are looking for concentrated practice on a single skill or a limited set of skills. These work well for students who need additional focused practice to master a skill. As part of the Algebra 1 “Slow It Down” Series, the focus of this activity is practice limited to solving two-step linear equations by subtracting, then dividing. Other related “Slow It Down” relay activities available individually or bundled: · Solve Two-Step Linear Equations by Subtracting & Multiplying ONLY “Slow It Down” RELAY Activity · Solve Two-Step Linear Equations by Adding & Dividing ONLY “Slow It Down” RELAY Activity · Solve Two-Step Linear Equations by Adding & Multiplying ONLY “Slow It Down” RELAY Activity · Solve Two-Step Linear Equations by Subtracting & Fraction Coefficients ONLY “Slow It Down” RELAY Activity · Solve Two-Step Linear Equations by Adding & Fraction Coefficients ONLY “Slow It Down” RELAY Activity For a review solving two-step linear equations, please see: • Solve Two-Step Linear Equations RELAY Activity The money-saving bundle with all seven activities is: · Solve Two-Step Linear Equations “Slow It Down” RELAY BUNDLE ******* Separate students into groups of four and give each student their own copy of Round 1. Students should discuss the problem as they work on it and agree on the correct answer. Once each student in the group has the correct answer, ONE person from the group takes ONE Round 1 sheet to have it checked by the teacher. If the answer is correct, the student then picks up four copies of Round 2 for the group. If the answer is not correct, the teacher sends the student back so the group can correct Round 1. Groups continue working until each round is completed and checked by the teacher for accuracy. This activity works well early in a lesson when students are actively learning a new skill. The discussion and collaboration in the small groups enhance the students’ learning. The answer key for the teacher is included. ***DIGITAL COMPATIBLE: Through Easel by TPT, this product contains an INTERACTIVE PDF. Text boxes and instructions for online use are already included. You will be able to further annotate and customize it for your digital learning needs. Underlying content is not editable. Your students will complete the digital PDF and submit it to you for review via Google Classroom or other LMS. CCSS: Solve equations and inequalities in one variable. 8.EE.C.7 Solve linear equations in one variable. 8.EE.C.7b Solve linear equations with rational number coefficients, including equations whose solutions require expanding expressions using the distributive property and collecting like terms. CCSS: Solve equations and inequalities in one variable. HSA.REI.B.3 Solve linear equations and inequalities in one variable, including equations with coefficients represented by letters. TEKS: Linear functions, equations, and inequalities. MA.8-9.A1.5.A Linear functions, equations, and inequalities. The student applies the mathematical process standards to solve, with and without technology, linear equations and evaluate the reasonableness of their solutions. The student is expected to: solve linear equations in one variable, including those for which the application of the distributive property is necessary and for which variables are included on both sides. VA SOL: Equations and Inequalities EI.A.4.a The student will solve multistep linear equations in one variable algebraically. Teacher Setup: Print enough copies (one-sided) for each student to have his/her own. Cut pages on the dotted lines to separate rounds into separate stacks (all of Round 1 is in one stack, Round 2 is in a different stack, etc.). After handing out Round 1, keep stacks of Round 2, Round 3, etc. and only allow students to take the next round in order when their group is ready for it. Included in the package: · Six relay rounds · Answer Key for Teacher You might also like: • Solve One-Step, Two-Step & Multi-Step Linear Equations Placemat Activities (3 activities) • Solve Linear Equations With Variables on Both Sides & Proportions Placemat Activities (2 activities) • Solve One-Step Linear Equations Problem Pass Activity (12 rounds) • Solve Two-Step Linear Equations Problem Pass Activity (12 rounds) • Solve Multi-Step Linear Equations Problem Pass Activity (12 rounds) • Solve One-Step Linear Equations Relay Activity (6 rounds) • Solve Two-Step Linear Equations Relay Activity (6 rounds) • Solve Multi-Step Linear Equations (Variable on One Side) Relay Activity (6 rounds) • Solve Linear Equations In Context Relay Activity (6 rounds) • Solve Linear Equations With Variables On Both Sides Relay Activities (6 rounds) • Rewrite Literal Equations & Formulas Relay Activity (6 rounds) • Solve One-Step Linear Equations Sum It Up Activity (8 rounds) • Solve Two-Step Linear Equations Sum It Up Activity (8 rounds) • Solve Multi-Step Linear Equations Sum It Up Activity (8 stations) This purchase is for one teacher only.
