Father Petar "Pero" Brzica (born ca. 1917) one of the guards in the Jasenovac concentration camp. He held the rank of Lieutenant. He is notorious for having won a contest in which he used a curve-bladed knife, also called a srbosjek, to kill newly-arrived concentration camp prisoners. Brzica boasted of winning the contest by killing the largest number of prisoners - 1360 people. Johanna Maria Magdalena "Magda" Goebbels, wife of Dr Paul Joseph Goebbels, Germany's Reich Minister of Propaganda from 1933 to 1945. After the Soviet Red Army entered Berlin, she was offered to have her children (Helga, Hilde, Helmut, Holde, Hedda and Heide) escape the bunker. She refused. "I would rather have my children die, than live in disgrace, jeered at". She drugged them with morphine and then killed them by cyanide. She and Joseph Goebbels then committed suicide.

The genocide of Roma people cost the lives approximately 220,000 to 1,500,000, most of whom died in concentration camps, with thousands more interned in camps and ghettos throughout occupied territories. On April 19, 1943, the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising began when Nazi forces attempted to clear out the Jewish ghetto in Warsaw, Poland, to send them to concentration camps. The Germans were met by gunfire from Jewish resistance fighters who held off the Nazis for 28 days before Warsaw was demolished and they were sent to concentration camps. European coat of plates from a mass grave, battle of Visby, fought in July 1361 on the Swedish Baltic island of Gotland, between invading Danish troops and the local, Gutnish, forces. The Danish won a decisive victory. Due to the heat, the dead had to be disposed of quickly, and many were buried in their armour. The archaeological excavation of one of the mass graves, in the 1930s, revealed over 1000 skeletons.

The photographer at Auschwitz: Man forced to take chilling images of inmates and their Nazi guards was haunted until his death at 94 - Wilhelm Brasse took some 40,000-50,000 photographs inside Aushwitz for the Nazis including these shots of Czeslawa Kwoka after she was beaten by a guard. Mr Brasse hid the negatives which were used to convict the very Nazis who commissioned them.
