To prune Joseph's coat climbing roses: leave for two or three years, so as to grow and develop long, sturdy canes. Just keep them in bounds and remove dead or damaged stems the first years. Tie to support with stretchy floral tape. As the rose gets older select more canes to create structure and fill up fence or trellis. Remove other canes at the base of the plant. After you bend and tie the structural canes horizontally new lateral shoots will develop and sprout along the length.

Goodbye Grass, Hello Garden
Wish I would have know this trick over 4 years ago. It would have saved countless hours of taking sod out & would have produced healthy soil also! Put cardboard & compost over grass in fall & by spring... you have healthy beds to plant in!
